Haitian President Jovenel Moïse declared Monday Oct 30, that he intends to “make universal and reliable access to energy a key factor of economic development” at an opening session of a CARICOM symposium in Port au Prince. He highlighted the country’s potential to utilize and develop clean, renewable sources of energy.

“But it’s not only a question of producing energy and making it accessible to people” said the President. “We also have to collect revenue. Energy cannot be free; everywhere in the world one has to pay for energy. This has to be properly reflected in our energy policy”.
