War vs. Civilization
In a civilized world, would there still be WAR?
In a world evolving toward “civilization”, should we establish guidelines for the eventual eradication of WAR? Should we:
1. Characterize countries that engage in war, except in defense, as “uncivilized”?
2. Characterize countries that spend the most on “defense” as “dangerous” and watch them closely? Continuously educate their
governments and citizens of the consequences of their economic exposure?
3. Establish international U.N.-like bodies to organize “non-offensive” governments to minimize any military advantage to other governments being “offensive”?
4. Help governments that decide to de-militarize by organizing to create political advantages for officials who promote that direction?
5. Identify most effective industries for “offensive” governments and corporations to invest in, to minimize negative impacts of
de-militarization and to maximize positive economic impacts?
The United States spends more on arms (and weapons of mass destruction) than all the other major industrial nations combined. The US military budget is about seven times greater than the $51 billion spent by Russia, the next highest competitor.”
